Greetings! This is the website for Will Terry's sections of Poli 30.

Please note, section participation is worth 10% of your grade. You earn credit for participation by turning in the weekly quizzes
available on this website. Quizzes will only be accepted in section and on time.

Announcements

April 20: This week's sections (on 4/22 and 4/23) will introduce you to Stata. We will meet in the computer lab in Solis 105.
April 23: Three copies of the Stata companion to your Pollock text are available in my mailbox in the poli sci grad lounge, SSB 314. If you borrow a copy please sign it out and be kind to it! The workbook is an alternative to the online tutorials available on Prof. Zeng's website.
April 23: The syntax in the example Stata do file I wrote in section is available here. You will need to modify the code a bit so that Stata can find the data on your machine.
April 27: For those of you in Thursday section, I aplogize! I'll be out of town at a conference, Chris Dawes will lead section.
April 29: You must bring a blue book to Monday's midterm! You may also bring a single 8.5" by 11" cheat sheet for use in the exam.
May 14: Dear Thursday section: Apologies! Please bring Quiz 5 to the next section to recieve credit for attendance. I will be holding make-up sections next week, on Monday before and after lecture: 10:30am and 2:00pm, meet at my office SSB 341. Start on Homework 2!
May 17: I will be holding office hours as usual on Wednesday 10:30-11:30am. Start Homework 2!
May 18: Q5 on HW2 contains a typo. To download the data, issue the following command in Stata: use "http://dss.ucsd.edu/~lazeng/ps30/gss2002.dta"
May 18: I will be holding extra office hours Tuesday 11:30-12:30 to help with HW2.
May 26: The Normal distribution applet was given in Lecture 10 (May 6). Here it is: http://davidmlane.com/hyperstat/z_table.html. Use for good, not evil!
June 7: I will be holding additional office hours Monday, June 8 from 11-1:00. Good luck on the exam!
